Exhibitions, where my models have been and can be seen

The Beginning

Haffmuseum Ueckermünde

When you have invested a lot of time and effort to build such a model then you want, of course, as many people as possible to see the ship. My first exhibition was in the Haffmuseum in Ueckermünde, in my hometown. In the setting of a marine exhibition it was in the limelight of the exhibits from July to September 1995.

First TV appearance

Titelbild der Schiffsmodell Actually, I was surprised every time that so many people read my publication in the magazine "Schiffsmodell". So in 1997, the WDR in Cologne contacted me and asked me if I can show my model in the show "Gesucht-Gefunden", which was supposed to start again at that time. I was invited and so I travelled with my brother (and, of course, with the Titanic model) to the Rhine. The show, however, was a little bit hectic; well it was live. Susanne Störmer was chatting with the host about the sinking of the Titanic and the various people on board.
My model was shown only briefly; the exposures of the details that were done before, however, were not shown because of the lack time. Well, at least I experienced the feeling of being on television. A short time after that, the Stern-TV team asked me as well to be on TV again.. However, when they noticed how far away Ueckermünde was, the distance to Munich was so far, they decided I couldn`t be reached soon enough.

Titanic-Exhibition Hamburg

Große Ehre für mich und mein Modell

With great effort a Titanic exhibition took place in the Hamburger Speicherstadt in 1998, which had one million visitors. I would have never expected that the people there would be interested in my ship.
But one day Günter Bäbler, one of the makers of this exhibition phoned me and asked me to place my model at the exhibition's disposal. The conditions were set very quickly and we agreed on the Whitsun Monday on which I should bring the model. Of course, a glass case was built just for the ship. I was very excited about this exhibition and more than that I was looking forward to meeting Günter Bäbler and Claes-Göran Wetterholm.
On our way the model sustained a break of its pole because my son caught himself on it when he got it out off the car at a car park. Nothing was said until Hamburg.
The stay in Hamburg itself was a real experience. I could jargonise a little bit and actually met Claes-Gören Wetterholm. By the way, he is a very friendly man who has much knowledge concerning the Titanic

Lindetal-Center Neubrandenburg

My model in the Lindetal-Center It was in November 1998 when my model was still in Hamburg and I was waiting for its return after the end of the exhibition there. At that time, I saw a wonderful colour print of a ship model in our local newspaper that advertised a Titanic exhibition in the Lindetal-Center in Neubrandenburg. "You recognise that model, don't you.?" I was asking myself sceptically because I did not want to realize it as I thought my model was in the archive in Hamburg. But it really was my model. A few clever colleagues from Hamburg had organized an extra exhibition without asking me about the use of my model.
To be honest, the location was not bad and I could finally see my ship again.

Zürich (Swizerland)

Contact over the Titanic-Verein-Swizerland

From November 1998 to June 1999 my model was in Switzerland because it was part of the local exhibition in Zurich. Being informed by my colleagues about the "Titanic-Verein Schweiz" I considered the distance too far for a visit of the exhibition there.
The resonance of the people was nevertheless very good as well, although the Swiss have no connection to the water what so ever. Perhaps that was the reason. Well, there were some Swiss on the board of the ship as well, when it sank.

Shop window advertising at home

Then the ship returned home, to Germany. During the season the ship model decorated the shop window of a shop in the Hauptstraße. This meant that the people of Ueckermünde could see the model again.

Exhibition in Munich

Munich as the next stop

It was time to travel again. In Munich a Titanic exhibition was shown, which referred to the Hamburg Show. The expectations, however, were much higher than the result. The American exhibitors stopped the exhibitions early.
My Titanic was seen there the entire time from October to December 1999.

The model made it across the 'Big Pond'

When it was obvious that the exhibition in Munich was about to end, the American exhibitors asked me if it was possible to place my model at some exhibitions in the USA. I was quite very happy since the original never made it across the Atlantic. So, my model flew with a jumbo to Dallas, where it was seen in an exhibition from January to September 2000.
